Use the manufacturer, product, batch and expiry details together to make sense of a scan result.
1. Start with the product and brand
Confirm that the result names the brand and product type printed on the item. Packaging sizes or variants may have different product records.
2. Match batch and expiry information
Where these details are present, compare them carefully with the printed batch number and expiry date. A mismatch is worth checking with the manufacturer.
3. Treat alerts as a prompt to investigate
Suspicious, recalled, expired or already-used results have different meanings. Read the explanation, follow any recall advice, and do not ignore a safety warning.
